Manual Lymph Drainage ( MLD), Dr. Vodder Method
MLD is a specialised therapy designed to improve the functioning of the lymphatic system thus enhancing the overall status of the immune system. Specific movements of the skin stimulate the contractions of the lymphatic vessels, thus a greater amount of metabolic waste products and excess fluid are removed from the tissues and returned to the lymphatic system for eventual elimination
MLD can be used to alleviate oedema in pregnancy, sinusitis, arthritis, acne, acne rosacea and cellulite. It promotes the healing of wounds, burns and can improve the appearance of new and old scars. MLD is also particularly good for traumatic bruising swelling and painful joints.

Complex Decongestive Therapy (CDT)
Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) combined with skincare, exercises, and compression bandaging, is termed Complex Decongestive Therapy (CDT).
CDT is the recommended treatment for both primary and secondary lymphoedema.
CDT is particularly beneficial in the early treatment of medical pathologies due to interrupted lymphatic systems such as lymphoedema following breast surgery with axillary lymph node clearance or radiation to the groin for prostatic cancer.
An individual assessment is essential to ascertain suitability for the treatment.
The complete treatment plan will include:
• written request for medical consensus prior to treatment
• photographs and measurements before and after the treatment
• an intensive period of treatment based on individual needs
• progress report post treatment for referring GP and/or Consultant
• referral for compression garments, following initial intensive treatment.
